DHL will expand eCommerce operations in the US

Shipping company DHL plans to inves million in the US market to expand its eCommerce capabilities. [Tweet “DHL will invest  million to expand its #eCommerce capabilities in the US”] The logistics and postal giant seeks to better compete in the global cross-border package delivery market. DHL will expand operations with 8 distribution centers The company reported that it plans to build 8 new eCommerce distribution centers and expand two that it is already operating. At these centers, retailers can store items for sale online so that when an American customer places an order, the item reaches them more quickly. The company already has  distribution centers in North America. According to Thomas Kipp, Head of eCommerce Strategy and Business Development at DHL , customers are asking for specific support and services when building their online presence.


They are becoming more demanding in terms of shipping speed . DHL and its competitors Although DHL has had a presence in the United States for years, it invested significantly in the past decade to build an express domestic delivery network to compete with United Parced Service (UPS) and FedEx in its domestic territory. DHL said the global cross-border e-commerce market will grow in value to $1 trillion by 2020, from $400 billion currently. The company is also adding the ability for certain shipments for customers to know exactly what day their package will arrive instead of offering them a range of several days on the delivery date.
