Santiago del Teide: Don Manuel Gorrín (1608-1668),

Member of a wealthy family established in Tamaimo, Don Manuel Gorrín was a notable agricultural owner, which allowed him to obtain the job of second lieutenant of the Milicias del Valle de Santiago company. Then, when the Lordship and the Town of Santiago were created, he was appointed its first mayor and ordinary judge by the then captain Don Fernando del Hoyo Solórzano, first Lord of said town. He died single, when he was about 60 years old.

He was born in the Tamaimo settlement around 1608. He was probably baptized in the church of Our Lady of Remedies in Buenavista, to whose jurisdiction the Valley of Santiago belonged at that time. He Email Marketing List had seven siblings: Don Francisco Gorrín, Don Pedro Gorrín, Doña Sebastiana de Évora, Doña Isabel González, Don Melchor Gorrín, Doña Ángela Gorrín and Doña Ana Gorrín, according to his will. At the moment we do not know for sure who his parents were,



But we do know his grandparents: Don Florián Gorrín, agricultural and livestock owner, exporter of mastic ash, guarantor of the auction of the decimal income of the livestock of La Gomera, patron of the chaplaincy founded by his mother and mayor of the Santiago Valley, and Doña Inés Pérez, from a Guanche family; both tested in Garachico in 1632…
