Torres Queiruga's theology is not Catholic

some of us have been waiting for years for what has finally happened today . The CEE has published a “Notification on some works by Prof. Andrés Torres Queiruga” . Although I suppose it will have received a final review and touch-up, the notification had been lying fallow for a long time , but due to various circumstances - which I know about but it is not the time for me to tell them - its publication has been delayed. The summary of the notification that the EEC has offered indicates what Queiruga's errors are in the three books that have been examined. The Galician theologian departs from the Catholic faith in : - The clear distinction between the world and the Creator, and the possibility of God intervening in history and the world beyond the laws that He Himself has established.


The newness of life in the Spirit that Christ reaches for us, with the consequent distinction between nature and grace, between creation and salvation. As well as, the need for supernatural grace to achieve the ultimate Job Function Email List goal of man. - The indeducible character of Revelation, through which God has made known to man his saving plan, choosing a people and sending his Son into the world. - The uniqueness and universality of the saving Mediation of Christ and the Church. - The realism of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, as a historical (miraculous) and transcendent event. - The genuine meaning of the prayer of petition, as well as the value of the intercession and mediation of the Church in its prayer for the deceased, especially in the Eucharist.

As you will see, it is not “small talk” that is at stake. They are fundamental doctrines for the Catholic faith . But many are also true for the rest of the non-Catholic churches and ecclesial communities. The notification could be signed by all Orthodox bishops. And also by the vast majority of evangelical Protestants , except in the question of prayer for the dead and some nuances in the issue of grace. In other words, it is not that Queiruga places himself outside the Catholic faith. It is that, at these points, he distances himself from anything that he deserves to call the name of Christian faith .
